Society of General Internal Medicine:"SGIM was actually born under another name: The Society for Research and Education in Primary Care Internal Medicine (SREPCIM) had 178 attendees at its 1978 inaugural meeting. Startup funding for SREPCIM was provided through a generous grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded to the American College of Physicians.
